Knit Child's Classic Cardigan
A great pattern for dipping your toe into garment making; this knit is worked flat from the bottom up in one piece. Then the knit is separated at the arm holes. No seaming required. Pattern includes sizes from newborn through child's size 6. A wonderful gift for family or just for someone in need, while you are learning the tips and tricks of garment knitting.
Pattern is a free download from Ravelry called "Elijah Cardigan" with excellent details not often included in child sized sweaters. While the photo
shows three colors used, it could certainly be knit in more or less. I can just picture cute rainbow colors for the ridges and trim!
Estimated yardage is up to about 650 yds depending on size chosen. This garment is knit in a worsted weight yarn with size 7 or 8 needles. We will certainly learn about making, measuring and using a gauge swatch.
Circular needle cable should be at least 24 inch length. DPN's can be used to knit the sleeves in the round, or use two circulars.
Other notions needed: Tapestry needle, 2 stitch holders, and 5 or 6 buttons about one half inch size.
