Kumihimo Japanese Braiding with Beads
Two class times to choose from. We will first learn the basics of braiding and make a key fob, then we will discuss the supplies needed for making your kumihimo beaded bracelet. We will learn to braid with beads, and learn different methods for incorporating beads into our braids. We will cover customizing your colors, patterns, and thickness of your braids. We will also learn different ways of finishing our jewelry pieces with "findings".

We will be using a foam kumihimo disk with 2 contrasting colors of a perle cotton. DMC is a good choice, be sure both colors are the same size for your first braid. Key ring will be provided.
Pattern is provided with class. Homework is required to prepare for the second class.
For our second class when we will be using size 8 seed beads of 2 contrasting colors along with a perle cotton that will fit through the beads. Please do not use smaller beads for your first braid. During the first class we can discuss materials needed for finishing your bracelet, we can add findings to the bracelet in our third class.

For our second class: Size 8 seed beads of 2 contrasting colors along with a perle cotton that will fit through the beads. Please do not use smaller beads for your first braid. Strongly recommend 8 plastic bobbins called EZ Bobs (small size are good) for braiding with beads. Bring several sizes of sewing needles depending on your thread size for weaving in ends. We can add findings to the bracelet in our third class. |
