Fair Isle Christmas Stocking
You can make an heirloom Christmas Stocking in time for the holidays! See how fun it is to choose your colors and motifs for a knit project that is truly customized!
Choose your colors, from traditional holiday colors, to project leftovers, just be sure to have enough contrast between motif and background colors. Great way to use your stash of mini skeins.
You can also make use of your favorite doodle decks, everything from our special Florida deck, or Space deck, to any one of several holiday decks to choose your motif.
Modular instructions include flexible options for the upper ribbing, length, and width of the finished stocking.

| Skill Details: | Must be able to knit and purl, and have knit in the round before. Some knowledge of sock construction is helpful. Stocking is knit in the round from the cuff down. |
| Requirements: | Recommended pattern Holiday I Doodle Stocking by Jamie Lomax, Pacific Knit Co. available on Ravelry for $8.00. Pattern includes 6 full pages of holiday doodles to mix and match. Additional motifs and doodle charts you own may also be added. Pattern recommends a DK yarn, but you may also use a worsted weight in a wool or wool blend works best for Fair Isle colorwork. Total yardage 315-550 depending on patterns and size selected. Main color approx. 230 yds. and approx. 300 yds total of various contrasting colors. (Yes you can use project leftovers of the same weight, amount needed will depend on doodles selected, just be sure there is high contrast with the main or background color.) Needle size U.S. 4 in a 16" circular for DK weight yarn. U.S. Size 6 for worsted weight. You may need 2 circulars or DPN's for finishing the toe. (Note: we use a needle smaller than recommended for the yarn for a stocking that is firm and can be used.) Stitch markers, and scrap yarn or stitch holder. |
