Beginning Brioche
Learn to make a fun new texture with your knitting using brioche knit and purls. We will make a scarf/cowl with two colors using unique stitches called barks and burps, but they are still just knits and purls.
Please purchase pattern Brioche Starter Cowl by Cynthia Spencer of Really Clear Designs on Ravelry for $5.99 (The garter stitch lines in the cowl provide a place for a life line for a little security while learning this fun knitting technique.)
Two colors of yarn, with contrast is very helpful when learning this technique. One variegated yarn and one solid looks great.
Both yarns must be of the same weight. At least 150 yards of each color will make the smaller size of the cowl.
Must use a circular needle, 24 inch length is long enough just for a scarf. Needle size should be one size smaller than required on the yarn label. A worsted that states size 7 or 8 needle, please use a 6 or 7. Of course this depends on your personal knitting gauge.
Always bring stitch markers.
