Rigid Heddle Loom - Clasp Warp Weaving

The class includes warping the loom using the clasped warp technique. It is a hands-on weaving class for a person who has some rigid heddle loom weaving experience. It is not expected that the weaving project be completed during the class. Use your own loom or rent one from the shop.
The class consists of warping a rigid heddle loom with a technique called clasp warp. Two different colors will be used to warp the loom and then we will use one color as the weft. The project is a scarf and the weaving technique is plain weave, so the weaving goes pretty fast. The class is based on the pattern "Star-Crossed Lovers Scarf" by Sun Kim, found in Little Looms magazine, Winter 2023.
Approximately 550 yards of yarn will be needed. Suggested yarns for the project are contrasting colors of 8/4 cotton, cotton slub or wool/nylon blend of fingering or sock yarn.
The weaving project is not expected to be completed in the class time. If you don't have your own loom, please contact the shop for information on renting a loom to take home after class to complete the scarf.
