Knit Swirl Hat/Cap



This is an unusual knit, the crown is a parallelogram, so the stripes naturally swirl around the hat. What a fun look, but still an easy knit! Learn some new skills and all different variations of this hat. It looks great with two colors or one color. It looks great with a tonal, or variegated paired with a solid.  Its also great for using up small amounts of left over yarn with another solid. The hat is very stretchy and can be adjusted easily for child to adult size. There are also several options for the top of the hat either a pom pom or stitched or knitted I-cord top.


Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Must know knit and purl. We will learn (optional) provisional cast on, picking up stitches, decreases and increases. Also learn the best tips and tricks for using pom poms.
Requirements: This hat requires at least 200 yds of yarn. If making two colors, you will need about 130-150 yds of main color, and about 80 yds total of contrasting color. Needles size U.S. 8 can be circular or straights Needles size U.S. 6 circular 16 inch for brim. Pattern provided, adjustments made for adult or child size. Markers are a must Darning needle for finishing. Small amount of scrap yarn if you wish to learn a provisional cast on.
