Barqia Mitts



Knit these finger-less mitts with a thumb gusset and a simple cable that adorns the back portion of the mitts in the form of two continuous S-shaped curves that narrow and widen. Pattern includes a short and longer version.

Learn cabling and creating a thumb gusset while knitting in the round on either double point needles or two circulars, or magic loop method.
Pattern is also charted for the cabling, while following written pattern for glove construction.



Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: Must be able to knit and purl and have knit in the round.
Requirements: Pattern is available on Ravelry for $6.00, part of Skacel's WanderKnits Collection Barqia Mitts -Sample is knit with one skein of Hikoo Madrona, a very soft alpaca and merino blend fingering weight held doubled throughout. 400 yds. Sample is the longer version of the glove. A DK weight yarn held singly could be substituted, requiring about 200 yds. -Needles of your preferred method in size 6, either 2 circular or magic loop. Double pointed needles are recommended for the knitting the thumb You also need a cable needle. -Stitch markers are a must. Highlighter tape to mark your rows is helpful.
