Take your crochet to a whole new level with entrelac, which is joined squares with no sewing needed. You can make a small table mat, scarf, shawl, afghan or full ruana with this technique, any size project you wish. A self shading yarn looks great in this technique creating diamonds of color in a fabric with terrific drape. A ruana is great outer wear for Florida's unpredictable winter weather or as a take along for travel . See the stunning sample in the shop.
Items can be made with any weight of yarn. No long hook is necessary since each square is only a few stitches long. Recommend a bamboo crochet (We want a hook with no thumb rest.) hook larger than what is recommended for yarn chosen since tunisian crochet makes a denser fabric.
Be sure to bring stitch markers.
The full size ruana used 2,625 yards. Other items like shawls will use less yarn.
Pattern is available on Ravelry: Sunset Ruana by Sharon Faulkner, $6.50
